I hope to be blogging about both the Hall and Libby family. This will be ongoing as I find more info about the families. There is so much info being published today that is new.
Today I find myself thinking about a new blog about the Scottish emigrants who were captured by Oliver Cromwell in the Battle of Dunbar and Worcester. They were sent on the John and Sara in the hold which was unventilated and I'm sure many sickened and died on the three month voyage.
My ancestor Daniel Dill was indentured to Alexander Maxwell for 7 years. He later married Dorothy Moore and settled in York, Maine.
It is ironic that when I was about 10 yoa my father worked at Portsmouth Navy Yard. As we had a home in Auburn, Maine he stayed in Kittery, Maine during the week. During the summer Dad and Mom decided to camp in York, Maine all summer. I loved every moment I had never seen the ocean before and what a surprise. These were the happiest summers of my life.
Of course, I didn't know then that my ancestor had lived there back in the 1600's. But I loved it and it felt like I had always known the place.
